Job Title:  Medical Transportation Driver

Overview:

The Mobile Medical Transportation Driver provides the transportation of patients/clients to and from hospitals, convalescent facilities, dialysis centers, rehabilitation centers, medical offices and their private residences in a safe, secure and professional manner. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and works closely with safety and facilities team to address facility-related needs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Drive mobile unit according to prearranged schedule.
  2. Communicate with staff and patients in a culturally appropriate manner.
  3. Contact the clinic team in advance of the clinic to confirm logistics and timing. 
  4. Assist with or perform intake as requested/needed.
  5. Maintain vehicle to be always operational including air conditioner and heating units.
  6. Assist with fueling fleet as needed, including gasoline and/or diesel. Cost covered by WAHSD.
  7. Sweep interior and use disinfecting wipes on cabinet handles, surfaces, and doors each day.
  8. Clean exterior of unit as needed.
  9. Complete necessary paperwork including vehicle repair, incident and mileage logs, checklists for set-up and clean-up of each clinic, Patient Registration and intake paperwork, and supply inventories. Send this paperwork back to the main office in a timely manner.
  10. Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies.
  11. Stay current on industry trends and best practices in facility maintenance to recommend improvements and efficiencies.
  12. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Current drivers license, with good driving record for three years, or period of licensure, whichever is shorter. 
  • High school education or G.E.D. (required)
  • CPR Trained
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, ability to work well with others, and communicate effectively.
  • Prior knowledge or experience with driving and maintaining large vehicles helpful. 
  • Ability to drive the Mobile Medical Unit (as determined by a driving test or evidence of prior experience).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current drivers license, with good driving record for three years
  • Experience working in a rural healthcare environment. 
  • Knowledge of healthcare-specific regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, TJC). 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • Ability to push/pull weight short distances.
  • Moderate twisting, frequent bending, infrequent squatting.
  • Must have 20/40 corrected vision.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a healthcare facility setting, with exposure to various environmental factors such as noise, dust, and chemicals.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for emergencies or special projects.
