Job Title:  Assistant Director of Nursing

Overview:

We are seeking a qualified Assistant Director of Nursing to help lead and oversee our nursing department under the direction of the Director of Nursing for our critical assess hospital. The Assistant Director of Nursing will work to develop a collaborative and efficient workplace with specific attention to quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Managing and leading all nursing personnel operations with the Director of Nursing.
  2. Develop short and long-term goals for the entire nursing department.
  3. Establishing new policies and updating existing policies to improve the standard of care for patients. 
  4. Planning and overseeing admission, nursing, and patient care processes for the Emergency Department and Inpatient care.
  5. Maintaining departmental budgets and recording all expenses.
  6. Coordinating with medical staff and other departments to ensure hospital efficiency.
  7. Overseeing all record-keeping processes and ensuring all necessary documents are accurate and up-to-date.
  8. Hiring, training, and evaluating new staff members.
  9. Evaluating staff performance and preparing accurate reports detailing your findings.
  10. Sharing best practices with staff on an annual training.
  11. Responsible for serving as a leader in performance and improvement.
  12. Inspires others to seek opportunities to grow and improve their performance and successfully applies lean and evidenced based practice to ensure all targets pillar outcomes are achieved.
  13. All safety-first interventions created through a culture of safety for his/her service line through the development/use of these skills by other leaders, physicians, and staff.
  14. Effectively uses data and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area of responsibility, providing instruction and mentoring for assigned staff members.
  15. This leader works closely with the Director of Nursing, CEO, and VP of Operations to create a desirable, safe work environment that enables the organization to meet or exceed all licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  16. Modeling exemplary skills in attaining effective teamwork and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and other departments.

  18. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in nursing required, concentration and work history in healthcare administration, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct patient care.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal policies and regulations in the healthcare industry.
  • Certified nursing and CPR qualifications with CPR trainer certification desired.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively work within a team and collaborate with others.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Lean Six-Sigma.
  • Knowledge of healthcare-specific regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, TJC).
  • Infection Control and Quality Nursing Certifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a fast-paced healthcare facility setting, with exposure to various patient interactions.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for emergencies or special projects.
