Position Overview:

The Human Resources/ Workforce Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management at West Ascension Parish Hospital Service District d/b/a Prevost Memorial Hospital. This includes recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compliance with employment laws, and maintaining a positive and confidential work environment. The Human Resources/ Workforce Development Manager will work closely with hospital leadership to ensure that Human Resources/ Workforce Development policies and practices align with the hospital’s goals and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement Human Resources/ Workforce Development strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall hospital strategy.
  2. Manage the recruitment and selection process, including job postings, interviewing, and hiring decisions.
  3. Develop and implement onboarding and orientation programs for new employees.
  4. Oversee employee relations, including addressing employee grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary issues.
  5. Manage performance appraisal and feedback processes.
  6. Responsible for running payroll as a back up to the financial team.
  7. Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  8. Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  10. Manage the HR budget and expenses.
  11. Collaborate with hospital leadership to identify and address HR-related issues and opportunities.
  12. Maintain a positive and supportive and confidential work environment for all employees.
  13. Stay informed about HR best practices and trends in the healthcare industry.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of HR management experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a rural healthcare setting is a plus.
